Food isn't bad for a chain. Burnt ends are hit or miss, but they are wonderful when they hit. Wings and smoked sausage are usually pretty good too.
portions are getting smaller and starting to taste more and more like fast food. Flavor and care just doesn't seem the same. (At this l location).
The meats tasted like they'd been in a holding warmer for far too long and no smoke flavor at all. Neither the ribs or brisket has any smoke ring. The pulled pork had a decent flavor. The fries were cold and tough. The service was slow even though there only appeared to be 3 or 4 tables occupied. Very disappointing visit.
Sorry for how long this review is... I was in one afternoon after taking care of some business in the area & having been in a few times before. I've been a Fan of Famous Dave's for quite some time, plus I had friends in, from back home in Chicago. I'd told them the rib tips reminded me of there. Bragging Fam. Dave's up, really selling them on the idea. I had my lunch, and the food was good, the service not so much. At that point in time I was the only person of color in & the server gave much Less than I was used to at that location. I admit I was usually there later in the day, servers were usually pleasant, engaged and attentive. Now I get it that anyone can have a bad day, but when you work in customer service you have to forget your personal feelings and biases. Here's the thing, I ordered food to take to my friends and when I left, I even left a small tip... remember the service wasn't that good. But when I got to my friends and they opened their food the BBQ was dried out, overcooked and mostly inedible. I don't make a habit of bad mouthing Anyone, here's the reason for this review. I completed Famous Dave's online survey & submitted it, but apparently it didn't mean much to them because there has been No response even after a couple of weeks.
Really cold Blue Moon beer. The spare ribs were excellent and so was the chicken. I thought the brisket was a little dry but my family liked it. All the sides were great. Baked beans were really good as was the slaw. The different BBQ sauce on the table were fun to try and mix. I actually really like the Georgia Gold/Mustard. We got the All American Feast which was more than enough for four hungry people. We will be back to try some burnt ends and banana pudding!
